Stuff I Love Monday!

Two back to back posts in one day, look at me go! I am doing this because I have good stuff to talk about, and I know this next week I will not have a lot of time to be bloggin'. Next week is finals/deadlines/the death of me. Not to mention I have to start packing, and I have a packed weekend of fun things to do because it is my last weekend in Portland :( I don't want to leave. Anyways, this Stuff I Love Monday is personal stuff in my life that I am currently diggin'!

My hair! I love my hair! Which is quite rare, actually. I went a little crazy and put some purple in along with the pink, and I like the way it turned out. I am slowly turning into a unicorn. The color is only on one side, and underneath my blonde, but it sure is tempting to do more. I probably shouldn't do that though, for I am going to be a nanny this summer and can't look super crazy!
My summer ankle boots! They are wicker and breathable and just are badass and have a pointed toe and are super comfy. They also go with a lot of outfits I have planned. I got them a couple years ago and never really wore them, but this summer will be their real time to shine.

My beloved Macbook Pro. Like everything else in my life, my Macbook has become a jumble of crazy clutter, and I love it. I love the stickers on my baby, it gives it so much character. My newest sticker is the equality one from the Human Rights Campaign, that I got yesterday. It goes quite well with my unicorn vomiting a rainbow that I got from Portland State's Queer Resource Center.

Hands Across Hawthorne

Last week, a gay couple was walking across the Hawthorne Bridge, holding hands. Out of nowhere they were brutally attacked by three ignorant assholes. When I first heard this I was shocked. Hate crimes like this are not supposed to happen in a place like Portland, but it did. So, last night, a week after the incident, the city of Portland came together. The Hands Across Hawthorne Event was thrown together quite quickly, and it was amazing. We got to the park and the mass of people there was inspiring. Mayor Sam Adams was there, and the victims of attack gave a speech that was so beautiful. The couple was adorable also, so stylish and sweet and undeserving of the horrible thing that happened to them. After the speech, the mass of people was directed to the Hawthorne Bridge, spanning both sides. We all held hands and sang I Wanna Hold Your Hand by the Beatles. The overwhelming turn out and support at the event was amazing, cars driving by were honking, everyone was so friendly and excited. I am so glad I went, despite the freezing rain and masses of homework I have. Seeing a community come together is really a beautiful thing.

This picture isn't in black and white. It was actually that grey and miserable.

Rose Festival

The Rose Festival is here in Portland, and maaaaan is it awesome! We never had anything like this in Seattle. The festivities kicked off on Friday, with an epic firework show over the river. My friend Christian joked that it would be the perfect night to shoot someone, because the fireworks were so loud. He is normal. Along with the fireworks there was an awesome carnival, with all the great carnival rides. My favorite ride of all time is The Zipper, such a classic. Me and Madeline went on that, we were the only ones on the entire ride. We laughed and screamed and when we got off our heads felt funny.

This ride, let me tell you, I think I almost died. It was the main attraction at the festival, I overheard someone say it cost one million dollars just to get it to Portland. It was called Vertigo or something like that, and was basically just one of those classic swing rides, except for the fact that it was faster, higher (100 feet to be exact) and went over the Hawthorne Bridge and the river. Me and Madeline expected it to be relaxing, but we were basically paralyzed with fear. I couldn't even move my head I was so terrified. Good times.

THERE WAS ALSO A BABY TIGER THERE OH MY GOSH. Such a cutie. I wish I could of squished his little face and played with him all night.

Who Wears Short Shorts?

After doing a bit of online browsing, as well as browsing forever 21 and h&m earlier today, I have come to the conclusion that I love, love, love high waisted shorts and I will be wearing them all summer. For a short curvy girl like myself, high waisted shorts are crazy flattering, not to mention retro and awesome and come in a bajillion different cool patterns. These shorts are all from Modcloth, and I would like to own them all. But alas, I will probably frequent Forever 21 for some cheaper options.

Film Festival

Today is fun! Yesterday was fun! I am having so much fun! I should be stressed over finals, which I will be shortly, but there are just too many fun things going on right now to be worried all the time. My friend Madeline, is a wonderful film maker, and she entered a short silent film she made into a local festival. Yesterday we went to the Hollywood Theater to view it, along with some of the other finalist films. The theater was awesome, and there was a live organ player playing along with the silent films. I wish I had a link to Madeline's film, it was filmed at PSU at night and is creepy as hell. The film finalists (crossing my fingers that Madeline's gets choosen) will be judged by Gus Van Sant and Chuck Palahniuk! So cool! After the screening, my friend Christian got interviewed all official like.

Look at this crazy Voodoo billboard! We had to pose in front of it!

BORING

Have you guys ever played Bananagrams? Its a fun game, go play it. Also, sepia makes everyone look better. I need that today because I feel soooo blah. I got nothin' else to say right now.

Next Fall

Today has been frustrating beyond belief. I had to wake up early to sign up for fall classes, and it was a disaster. A lot of the classes I planned on taking were full, and my schedule is intesne and long and strange and did I mention I HATE prerequisite classes?!?!

Tuesdays & Thursdays
12:00-1:50 French
2:00-3:50 Probability and Statistics
4:40-6:30 Principles of Economics (Micro)

Online Class
Popular Culture & Mentor Session

At this point, I am going for a BFA in Business Administration and Management, but who knows, that can change, I am always changing my mind. I am also extremely nervous to take an online course. Portland State has this intensive University Studies system, in which we are to take certain courses every year, leading to a large senior capstone project. All of the Sophomore Inquiry required courses on campus that I wanted to take were full, so i I decided to do one online. I really hope it goes well. I decided to only take classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays because it will help me get a desperately needed job. Next year I really want to have more of an adult experience, working, going to school, not living in dorms, being more self sufficient. We will see how that goes...

Shoe Lust

I am currently in a cafe, about to buckle down on an essay, and an e-portfolio, and chapter readings, and finalizing classes for next fall. But, before I do all that, I am showing you some shoes that I just fell in love for on the online store Need Supply Co. These shoes are all fabulous, and with fabulousness comes a price, a hefty one, these babies ain't cheap. But I would gladly wear any of them any day, and I am not opposed to opera singing, braiding your hair, cooking you mediocre food, or any doing other things of that nature that will get you to buy them for me.

They are all kind of wacky, which is why I love them so. Safe is boring.

Quick Update

I am so indecisive as of late. I have changed my blog background a bajillion times. I keep on finding great images, and can never make up my mind, but I feel like this floral one is here to stay. This week is going to be full of academics, which is important. I have not been the best student lately, and with spring term almost over and finals quickly approaching, it is now time for me to buckle down. I have also decided I am not spending any money all week, which, though difficult, is very possible. (This means more watery dining hall frozen yogurt and no more evening trips to the deliciously addicting Lucky Spoon frozen yogurt heaven.)

I hope everyone is having a lovely Monday. The sun just came out from behind a cloud and the park blocks are glowing green, it is amazing. Reason number 252343 why I love Portland. Anyways, I will end this post with a photo of my absolute favorite thing, bearded men wearing glasses and flannel. Swooon.

Stuff I love Sunday!

I am tired. Going to bed at 6 AM after dancin' all night can really make a girl sleepy. But anyways, this is what I am currently diggin'.

This adorable vintage wedding dress. I want something like this for my big day. ( Don't laugh because I am not in a relationship and only 19 and completely terrified of commitment. Every girl finds her wedding dress a bit a head of schedule.)

New Orleans. I have a serious obsession with this city, and I've never even been there. I think I just have an obsession with the charm of old time southern culture.

Love is all you need. Kinda cheesy, but sweet. I like the crafty aspect of it, patterned paper is a serious addiction of mine. Well it would be an addiction if I could afford to buy it :/

Haley Reinhart. Her being booted from American Idol was such a downer, seeing as she is way more talented than the final two on the show. Her singing this song gives me chills.

Twig & Honey

I have a not so secret addiction to weddings. With all the awesome wedding blogs and tv shows out there, it is really hard not to. I found the amazing online shop Twig & Honey while browsing my favorite wedding blog, Green Wedding Shoes. Their headpieces are absolutely stunning. Though they cost a ton of money, they are beautiful and unique and something I totally would want to wear if I was a bride. My favorite headband is the last photo, thats some serious bling y'all.

Events.

My weekend is going to be Four Loko madness. These are probably the worst alcoholic beverages I have ever had in my entire life. I love being a college student. $3.50 death traps are all I can afford :( A friend who used to go to Portland State is coming to stay with me for the weekend! Her and I always got into too much trouble, so it will be interesting to see how this weekend turns out.

Today me and my friends had a girls sushi lunch. We had all been craving sushi for days, and lovely Sushi Land was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. I always get the same thing, I am a glutton for some spicy tuna rolls. I ended up getting 4 plates, but could have had about 400. Sushi is so yummy.

New Stuff

Hello all. Just some little things before I forget. I am changing my blog name. The title and the URL. This is important because if you type in the old URL after 2PM tomorrow, it will seem like I deleted my blog! The new URL will be CestMoiAnna.blogspot.com! Makes sense right? that is my name after all. Last night I also put pink in my hair, and it is a lot of pink, I love it! You can't tell from the picture, but its there!

You are my Sunshineee.

It is a miracle! The sun is shining today and it is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately for me, I have had class all day, and now I have a business plan that I must work on for the majority of the evening. Sigh. I did manage to sun bathe in the park blocks for a little bit, and snapped a few pretty summer shots. I can't believe we only have 3 weeks left of school! I signed up for my walk through and check out process for my dorm. Saying goodbye to freshman year will be such a bittersweet experience for me! Though I am very excited for the future and to move on in my life. Meeting with my academic advisor last night really got me really pumped, and nervous to apply for the Portland State School of Business. The classes I have to take my sophomore year to be eligible to apply are extremely intimidating, but necessary. (I have to take business finance and statistics, and math makes me want to cry, I am not even kidding.... I cried over math so many times in high school.) Thank god I have the summer to get my mind of school and just have fun, I have a lot of great things lined up for myself!

Feels like summer!

Choice Notes.

I just made a blog post about Bon Iver, then trashed it because I realized I should talk about musicians people might not know about. While Bon Iver is lovely, this girl is the bomb and super new! I found Alex Winston by browsing through Band Camp a little while ago, and rediscovered her today. Her voice is lovely, and powerful, and unique to anything I have ever heard. She also has amazing style, look at that album cover, it is perfect!

La Blogotheque live AMAZING version of Locomotive. The real performance starts around 2:09, and it is awesome. I love everything La Blogotheque does, live random performances are always so fun and unique to watch.

Lovely Jewelry

Super duper awesome blogger Moorea Seal makes the best jewelry ever. Evvvvvvvver. I am so in love with her chevron earrings and necklaces and her amethyst rings. She just announced that everything on her Esty shop is 25% off, which is so tempting! I want it all and deals like this don't come around often. Damn you Moorea!
