Confession: I can't be a hipster. I may live in a hipster city, like to go to hipster stores and wear hipster clothes from time to time, but when it comes to music, the one thing that really truly defines a hipster, I fail. I mean, I try from time to time to listen to certain bands with hipster credibility, and I enjoy them. If they are not too ridiculous. I mean come on, Animal Collective is only good for so long. When it comes down to it, I love bluegrass. Like, really, deeply love it. Give me some banjo, acoustic guitar, and a fiddle and you have my heart.
I particularly like this band, who I found off of the site bandcamp.com. If you have not been to that site, it is the BEST way to find great music from extremely talented musicians. There are a lot of free CD downloads too, and as we know, Free is always good.
